Google Schedules May 8th Event to Launch Pixel 3a & 3a XL

After launch of Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL launch in October last year, we have been seeing the leaks about the mid-range Pixel smartphones. While the devices are initially leaked as Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 XL Lite, the Android Q Beta 1 update revealed the official names as Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL. Now, the company has scheduled a Pixel launch event on May 8th where we expect them to unveil the all-new Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a smartphones.

The leaked videos and images of the Pixel 3a smartphones already revealed the first look of the device. Even the key specifications of both these devices are leaked online. Just like other pixel devices, the mid-range Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL also come with a two-tone glass body. On the front, we will be looking at an 18:9 display on both the devices. While the Pixel 3a sports 5.6-inch Full HD+ (2220×1080 pixels) AMOLED display, the bigger Pixel 3a XL comes with a 6-inch Full HD+ (2160×1080 pixels) AMOLED display.

While we are seeing budget smartphones with triple rear cameras, the Mountain View-based company is still going with the single camera. Both the devices will offer 12.2MP camera on the rear and an 8MP camera on the front for selfies. While the leaks revealed the devices to come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, we also expect the company to offer one more storage option. As seen on the premium Pixels, the Pixel 3a smartphones also come with Active Edge feature. With these mid-range devices, the company is also bringing back the 3.5mm audio jack.

The Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL will be powered by the 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 and Snapdragon 710 Mobile Platforms respectively. They also support fast charging (18W expected) using the USB Type-C port. While these new Pixel devices will be running on Android 9.0 Pie, the users should be able to try out the Android Q Beta from day one.
