Moto G7 spotted with Snapdragon 625 chipset

Motorola is widely expected to launch the Moto G7 in February before MWC 2019. The upcoming G7 series is rumoured to include a regular G7, G7 Play, G7 Power and G7 Plus. We have already seen some renders of all four phones that give us a pretty good idea of their designs, but the hardware is still uncertain. This week, a Moto G7 phone has been spotted on Geekbench with a Snapdragon 625 chipset.

The benchmark site lists a Snapdragon 625 chipset, which makes us wonder whether it refers to the Moto G7 or the G7 Play. Recent reports say that the Moto G7 will come with a Snapdragon 636 chipset, while the Moto G7 Plus will run on a Snapdragon 660 processor. If we go by these reports, then it seems the Snapdragon 625 chipset will power the low-cost G7 Play. The listing also mentions 3GB of RAM on board.

Whether it is the Moto G7 or Moto G6 Play, one things is certain that the phones will get a good bump in hardware. The Moto G6 and G6 Play last year came with Snapdragon 430 and Snapdragon 450 processors, respectively, which made them look pretty weak against the competition.
