OPPO has unveiled its first working under display selfie camera early this month, which technically is the first Android OEM to tease its technology, followed by Xiaomi as well. OPPO tops again by showcasing it’s under display selfie camera technology to the public at MWC Snahagi 2019, which has begun in China.

The Chinese smartphone maker has been innovative to eliminate the need of the notch on the front, right from the launch of OPPO Find X, early last year. However, the company had made new plans to get rid of the notch once and for all without at any fancy pop-up cameras. This is where the company’s Under-Screen Camera technology kicks in, which is the name given by the company for it’s earlier teased working under display camera.

OPPO has premiered its new Under-Screen Camara technology at MWC Shangai, wherein it further explains how it actually works. According to the company, the camera module present under the display is said to be a customized panel which has a translucent panel material that is further combined with processing algorithms that are capable of clicking pictures with the camera. Apparently, these algorithms include haze removal, HDR, and white balancing as well.

Further, it is believed that OPPO device packs in an under-screen camera that is said to be packing a larger sensor than the conventional one for allowing as much as light possible, which translates to a drop in a resolution of the image. The report further suggests the algorithms aforementioned would help in capturing the standard selfies, despite the drop in resolution.
