It will widely expected that apple will introduce upgraded ‘AirPods’ this year alongside the new iPhone devices. But the idea never materialised. While there’s no word on what new features will the next-gen AirPod will bring, one of the patents that recently got updated, reveals what Apple is working on for the particular accessory.
As spotted by the Patently Apple website, the patent that Apple won in March 2017 has now been upgraded with new health-specific sensors. Earlier, the patent stated the Apple AirPods to feature biometrics and noise cancellation features. This week, trademark filings from Hong Kong and Europe suggest the AirPods may feature ‘Wellness Sensors’ among other components.
It has been mentioned that the AirPods will have “health, fitness, exercise, and wellness sensor.” It may also transmit “biometric data, heart rate, body movement, and calories burned.”
