Asus ROG Phone II Announced with Snapdragon 855+

Asus has launched its ROG Phone II gaming smartphone which is designed for gamers. The first gaming smartphone under its Republic of Gamers (ROG) was called a ROG Phone that came with high refresh rate OLED display. The latest ROG Phone II from Asus powered with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ SoC with GPU overclock to 675MHz, Prime core Overclocked to 2.96GHz.

The handset comes with a near-stock UI and since it is Android-powered it comes with Android 9 Pie out of the box. There is a 6.59” AMOLED screen with 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution giving 19.5:9 aspect ratio and supports 10-bit HDR. The screen can run up to 120Hz refresh rate with 1ms latency along with 60Hz and 90Hz. The touch sensor has a sampling rate of 240Hz and the company claims that it achieved lower-tech latency than the iPhone XS Max.

There is a 48MP main camera on the device along with a secondary 13MP camera. There is a front-facing stereo speaker with DTS:X Ultra support so that it can simulate multi-channel audio. Since it comes with larger chambers they make them 2.5x louder than the speakers of its predecessor.

Furthermore, there is a tweaked version of the dual-screen TwinView dock and the clip-on AeroActive Cooler fan alongside a new gamepad attachment called the Kunai. It comes with two split controllers that can be attached to the sides of the phone into a separate joypad grip making it more comfortable. It can also be used as one of the docks – WiGig wireless display dock, Pro Dock or the Mobile Desktop Dock – to output image to a TV.

There is a second-generation AeroActive Cooler II which is four times quieter (24dB) and keeps the exterior of the phone cooler (dropping the temperature by 5°C lower, up from 4°C). This cooler can also double as a kickstand so that the user can leave the phone on the table and use a wireless controller also. The pricing of the device is not been announced yet, which should be happening soon 23rd of July when the device goes for sale in China
