Honor V20 with In-display Camera Launched in China

On Wednesday, Honor sub brand of Huawei officially announced the launch of its new V20 smartphone in China. Compared with its predecessor, the Honor V20 has undergone significant upgrades in design and hardware. The first Honor phone gets a punch-hole display screen and the company’s first smartphone to get a 48-megapixel rear camera.

The Honor V20 was first announced earlier this month on the same day as the Galaxy A8s as Honor and Samsung fought to claim the spot of the world’s first phone with a display hole. The All-View display is the biggest highlight here, but the flagship also touts a powerful Kirin 980 processor and a new technology called Link Turbo, among other things. Here’s what you need to know about the new Honor V20.

The company has also given the V20 a unique design on the back. The glass panel comes with V-shaped patterns that shimmers and runs down the back when light hits it. This has been accomplished through nano laser coating process. Powering the Honor V20 is an octa-core Kirin 980 chipset with Dual NPU. This is the same chipset that powers the Huawei Mate 20 Pro as well. The Kirin 980 is Huawei’s first 7nm-based processor that offers a significant bump in performance and improved power efficiency compared to its predecessor. The Dual NPU offers advanced AI and machine learning computation.

The Honor V20’s price starts at CNY 2999 (approx Rs 30,000). This is for the base variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The phone will also be available with 8GB + 128GB priced at CNY 3499 (approx Rs 35,500). Honor has also launched a special Moschino brand edition of the V20 in China with 8GB + 256GB configuration priced at CNY 3999 (approx Rs 40,000).
