South Korean smart phone company Samsung announced its latest medium-range device, the Galaxy A8s, at its Beijing, China event. This is the first device in the company to release Infinity-O and Infinity-V screens at the Samsung Developers Conference last month.
The cut out that Samsung has used for its camera is 6.7mm, which is considerably bigger than the 4.5mm cut out which Honor has claimed it is using for its V20 smartphone which is scheduled to be announced next week. The Galaxy A8s features a 24-megapixel selfie camera and a triple camera setup at the back.
Samsung Galaxy A8s specifications
The Samsung Galaxy A8s runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. It features a 6.4-inch Full HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) resolution 2.5D curved glass Infinity-O display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. It features an in-display selfie camera at the top left corner.
In terms of performance, the Samsung Galaxy A8s is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC coupled with Adreno 616 GPU. In terms of memory, the device has been launched in two variants – 6GB RAM + 128GB internal storage and 8GB RAM + 128GB internal storage.
Coming to the camera department, the Samsung Galaxy A8s features a triple camera setup at the back consisting a 24-megapixel primary camera f/1.7 aperture, a 10-megapixel telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture and a 5-megapixel depth camera with f/2.2 aperture. On the front, the device sports a 24-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture.
The Samsung Galaxy A8s is powered by a 3,400mAh battery with adaptive fast charging support. Connectivity options on the device include dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC and a USB Type-C port.
Pricing and availability
The Samsung Galaxy A8s will be available in Blue, Gray and Green color options in China from 21 December. The company has not revealed any information about the device’s price or its global launch yet.
