Xiaomi’s 100W Super Charge Turbo Technology to Make Debut with Redmi

Lin Bin, co-founder and president of Xiaomi, posted a new video on his Weibo account teasing the company’s new fast charging technology called Super Charge Turbo. It will offer up to 100W output (mostly 20V/5A) and can charge a smartphone with 4,000mAh battery from 0% to 100% in just 17 minutes. In comparison, the OPPO R17 Pro with 3,700mAh battery can be fully charged in 35 minutes using the 50W SuperVOOC flash charge.

Today, William Lu, General Manager of Redmi in China, confirmed that Redmi will be the first brand to launch a smartphone with this new fast charging technology. He posted on Weibo saying that Redmi will take the lead in mass producing.

A few weeks back, Xiaomi has officially confirmed to launch a flagship smartphone powered by the 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform. We expect the company to debut the 100W Super Charge Turbo fast charging technology with the upcoming flagship smartphone from Redmi. However, we must wait at least a couple of months for this smartphone launch. Currently, the 50W Super VOOC Flash Charge from OPPO is the fastest charging standard available in the market.

Huawei will be introducing the 55W Super Fast Charging technology with the Huawei Mate X foldable smartphone. We hope Xiaomi manages to mass produce smartphones with Super Charge Turbo Technology. Xiaomi might debut this new technology with its rumored foldable smartphone.
