After teasing in the past few weeks, Xiaomi officially launched the falgship smartphone in 2019 at an event held in Beijing, China. The company launched MI 9 as a successor to MI 8 last year. Xiaomi also introduced Explorer version Mi 9 with transparent back. For Mi 9, the company insists on a similar design to its predecessor. However, it offers some leading features with the latest hardware.
The device comes with a curved glass back body in the gradient finish. It now comes with a triple camera set up on the rear. On the front, the device now uses waterdrop notch featuring just a front camera. With the bottom chin measuring just 3.6mm thick, the device also offers 90.7% screen to body ratio. It sports a 6.39-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. Under the hood is the 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform clocked at 2.84GHz.
Talking about the cameras, the triple camera setup on the rear uses 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor with f/1.75 aperture along with 12MP Samsung S5K3M5 sensor with f/2.2 aperture for 2x optical zoom and 16MP Sony IMX481 sensor with f/2.2 aperture for 117-degree super wide-angle view.
For selfies, there is a 20MP front-facing camera that can also be used for AI face unlock.
The device comes with a relatively smaller 3,300mAh battery. However, it now supports 27W fast charging using the proprietary power adapter. The company also introduced 20W wireless fast charging technology. Coming to the pricing, the Mi 9 with 6GB and 8GB is priced at 2999 Yuan (
446.28$) and 3299 Yuan(490.92$) respectively. The Mi 9 Explorer Edition with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage costs 3999 Yuan(595.09$).
