OPPO has finally launched the all-new OPPO Reno smartphones today in China. As expected, the company launched the OPPO Reno 10x Zoom variant along with the standard variant. Surprisingly, the company also announced its first ever 5G smartphone – OPPO Reno 5G. At the MWC 2019, the company briefly showcased its 5G smartphone.
However, we expect it to be the same OPPO Reno 10x zoom smartphone with Snapdragon X55 5G modem. The company will be introducing the 5G Spark Program in China where it will select 200 OPPO users to test out the company’s first 5G smartphone before the commercial launch. The OPPO 5G smartphone will be fully revealed during the global launch event of the OPPO Reno smartphone on April 24th in Zurich, Switzerland. The OPPO Reno 10x zoom variant comes powered by 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform.
It sports a 6.6-inch Full HD+ (2340 × 1080 pixels) AMOLED display with 19:5:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. The device comes with triple rear cameras featuring 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor with f/1.7 aperture, a 13MP periscope-style telephoto sensor with f/3.0 aperture, and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor with f/2.2 aperture. The device offers 10x lossless zoom and comes with dual OIS. For selfies, there is a 16MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture.
The weird looking pop-up part which holds the front camera also features front and rear LED flash. It also comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner. The device comes with a 4,065mAh non-removable battery and supports VOOC 3.0 Flash Charge technology.
The standard Reno costs 2,999 yuan ($450) for a 6GB + 128GB of storage model, 3,299 yuan ($490) for 6GB + 256GB, and 3,599 yuan ($540) for 8GB + 256GB. The 10x Zoom Edition, meanwhile, is priced higher across the board: 3,999 yuan ($600) for 6GB + 128GB, 4,499 yuan ($670) for 6GB + 256GB, and 4,799 yuan ($710) for 8GB + 256GB.
